About Me I am a public servant in New Zealand.  My position is Director, Policy at the Retirement Commission.  I focus on welfare policies that impact retirement and retirement savings, conduct and commission research, write educational and critical material on policy, and provide advice to Ministers on retirement policy. I am also a Research Associate at the Public Policy Institute, University of Auckland, New Zealand. Previously I was Principal Advisor to the Chief Economist at the New Zealand Treasury.  In that role I helped develop the ‘Living Standards Framework’, a multi-dimensional measure of wellbeing for policy advice, which was adopted by the Labour Government to formulate the world’s first ‘Wellbeing Budget’ in 2019. I am co-founder and co-organiser of the Aotearoa (New Zealand) Hub of the Wellbeing Economies Alliance (or WEAll).  We work to help individuals, businesses, and policymakers (at national and sub-national level) to apply a wellbeing approach. I am a Chartered Accountant by profession (CA) and was awarded fellowship (FCA) in 2018.  I hold a PhD in Taxation, Masters in Applied Taxation, B.Comm in Professional Accounting.
