About Me Dr. Kits is a settler of European (Dutch) descent, living in Treaty Six territory in Alberta, Canada. She is an associate professor of economics at The King’s University. She has a BA in Environmental Studies from the King’s University, a Master’s of Development Economics degree from Dalhousie University, and a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Alberta. Her two primary areas of research are the socio-economic and ecological impacts of Alberta’s oilsands industry, and  decolonizing and Indigenizing the economics curriculum.
