Barbara Fritz holds a joint appointment as professor at the School of Business & Economics and the Institute for Latin American Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. Her fields of expertise are development economics and international macroeconomics, with a special focus on Latin America. She has published widely on economic development strategies at the intersection of money and finance, remittances, inequality, and on regional monetary cooperation. for her research, she uses multiple methods, including qualitative approaches and descriptive statistics. she also approaches real world problems for different paradigmatic perspectives, higlighting contributions coming from the global South.
