About Me

I am professor of pluralist development economics at the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. I am the recepient of the Gunnar Myrdal prize in institutional economcis and the Thomas Divine award in social economics. I have published a pluralist economic textbook with four theories on the standard micro and macro textbook topics, with examples from countries of the global north and the global south: Economics after the Crisis: and Introduction to Economics from a Pluralist and Global Perspective (Routledge, 2015). I am member of the Dutch Thinktank Sustainable Finance Lab and board member of Rethinking Economics NL. I am director of the free online database Indices of Social Development, which covers every country in the world and I recently published a book with inspiration for a postcapitalist economics: Alternative Ideas from Ten (almost) Forgotten Economists (PalgraveMacmillan, 2021).
